GeraiBook a walkthrough

Done-for-you localised commerce · Indonesia & Malaysia

A spreadsheet on Monday. A shop the following Tuesday.

Gerai builds Southeast Asian brands a storefront they own — with QRIS, DuitNow, e-wallets and cash-on-delivery working from the first hour, live courier rates at checkout, and WhatsApp treated as a way to buy rather than a help desk. Here is exactly what happens on each of those seven days.

Day1

You hand over what you already have

A product list — names, prices, stock — in whatever spreadsheet you keep it in, and the photographs already sitting on your phone. Then about forty-five minutes on a call to choose a direction for the shop and point your domain at us.

What we need from you: that call, and a signature on the payment-gateway and courier paperwork. Nothing else, and nothing technical.

Days2–3

Your catalogue gets built and then checked by a person

Your spreadsheet goes through the catalogue pipeline: studio-grade product imagery generated from your own snaps, and descriptions written in Bahasa Indonesia or Melayu in your brand’s tone of voice.

Then a human reads every row and fixes what the machine got wrong. Nothing reaches a live shop without someone having looked at it.

The Gerai build console: a provisioning checklist, an integrations panel showing gateway and WhatsApp status, a spreadsheet upload area, and a review queue of five generated product drafts awaiting approval.
The console we build in. The checklist on the left is the shop being provisioned step by step; the queue underneath holds generated drafts waiting for review before anything is published.

Four finished catalogue images from three different shops — all generated from merchants’ ordinary photographs.
Days4–5

Money and delivery start working

We open your payment sub-account and walk you through the KYC, connect your courier accounts, and set your shipping origin so rates quote correctly at checkout from your real account rather than a guess.

Indonesia

QRIS · virtual account · GoPay · OVO · DANA · cash on delivery

Shipping: JNE, J&T

Malaysia

FPX · DuitNow · Touch ’n Go · cash on delivery

Shipping: EasyParcel

Worth being exact about: your buyers’ money settles from the licensed payment gateway straight into your own bank account. It never passes through Gerai.

Day6

WhatsApp becomes somewhere people can buy

Your shop gets a WhatsApp number with a branded assistant on it. It answers the two questions everyone actually asks — show me the catalogue, where is my order — and hands anything else to you by name, without ever pretending to be a person.

After that, order confirmations, payment receipts and shipping notices send themselves from a template library that already clears WhatsApp’s rules.

A WhatsApp product carousel showing two coffee bags with prices and add-to-order buttons.Products can be browsed without leaving the conversation.
A WhatsApp message confirming payment was received, with order details and a tracking number.Receipts and tracking arrive on their own.
Chat orders are ordinary orders: same queue as the website’s, same statuses, same notifications to the buyer.
Day7

You go live, and you leave knowing how to run it

Domain pointed, shop published, and one training session on the app you will actually use — which is a phone, not a desktop dashboard. Then the link goes into your Instagram and WhatsApp bios, and the first order lands in the same queue whether it came from the web or a chat.

From then on: hosting, SSL, backups, upgrades and support are ours. There is nothing for you to update, ever.

What actually arrives at the end of it

Not a template licence and a login — a finished shop, with the unglamorous parts already done.

A storefront that reads as your brand

Your name, your domain, your photography. Bilingual from the start and built mobile-first, because that is where your buyers are.

A catalogue, photographed and written

Built from your spreadsheet and photo dump, in your brand’s tone, reviewed by a person before anything publishes.

Local payments that clear

QRIS, virtual accounts and e-wallets in Indonesia; FPX, DuitNow and Touch ’n Go in Malaysia; cash on delivery in both, with a confirmation step.

Live shipping rates

Quoted at checkout from your real courier account and your shipping origin, so the buyer pays what the courier charges.

WhatsApp as a real channel

A branded assistant, pre-approved notification templates, and monitoring of the quality rating Meta assigns your number.

One order queue behind everything

A web order and a chat order are the same object, with the same statuses and the same buyer notifications. Unpaid orders expire by themselves.

The phone app you run the shop from

Takings, orders, guarded cash-on-delivery confirmation, one tap to the buyer’s WhatsApp, and your own price and stock edits.

Your data, exportable, permanently

Customers and orders export whenever you ask. If you ever want to take over, we hand you the whole site as code in your own repository.

The one screen you use every day

Everything above exists so that this is all the work: see what came in, accept it, send it. It is phone-first on purpose — our merchants are on a scooter, in a studio or behind a counter, not at a desk.

  • Today, first. Takings so far and the orders waiting on you, with the seven- and thirty-day trend beside them.
  • One queue, tabbed by stage. Live counts, searchable by name or WhatsApp number, web and chat orders together.
  • Cash on delivery is guarded. A COD order needs your explicit confirmation before it can move.
  • The buyer is one tap away. Their WhatsApp thread opens from the order itself.
  • Prices and stock are yours. Edit or archive a product without waiting on us.
Merchant dashboard: today's takings, seven- and thirty-day revenue, one new order needing action, and a copy-store-link button.
Today, at a glance
Order queue tabbed Baru, Diproses, Dikirim and Selesai with live counts, listing two orders with buyer, date and total.
Every order, one list
Order detail with a status timeline, buyer address, a Chat via WhatsApp button and an itemised total.
Accept, ship, done
Catalogue screen listing six active products with prices and stock levels.
Your prices, your stock

Three shops that went through exactly this

Two countries, two languages, two currencies, three completely different brands — and one platform underneath. Every product photograph came from the merchant’s own snaps.

Kopi Nusantara: a dark editorial storefront with a full-bleed roastery photograph.

Questions we get asked

Seven days — really?

Seven working days, and it holds because the work is the same every time: no discovery phase, no wireframe rounds, no change requests billed by the hour. The clock starts when your product list and paperwork arrive, and the honest dependency is you — the gateway KYC needs your signature and we cannot sign it for you.

We already sell on Shopee, Tokopedia and TikTok. Why add this?

Keep all of them. The shop link goes into the bios and chats you already use. What it adds is the channel you own: your margin on repeat buyers, your customer list in your own hands, and no exposure to a commission change or an account suspension you did not see coming.

Who holds the money our customers pay?

Not us. Payments settle from the licensed gateway directly into your own bank account. Gerai never touches the funds.

What happens to our data if we leave?

Customers and orders export any time you ask — it is yours. For a clean break we hand over the whole site as code in your own repository, so nothing depends on us continuing to exist.

Is an AI going to talk to our customers?

Within limits we will state plainly. The WhatsApp assistant handles catalogue and order-status questions and escalates everything else to a human. It is labelled as a shop assistant and never claims to be a person. If you want an agent that answers open-ended product questions, that is a different conversation and we would rather have it honestly.

Are the product photographs real?

They are generated from the merchant’s own photographs of their own products, then reviewed by a person before publishing. Nothing on a live shop is stock imagery.

Can you sync our marketplace orders?

TikTok Shop — which now covers Tokopedia too, since the legacy Tokopedia API was retired — is a planned order-sync integration, and Shopee order sync is feasible. What we will not promise is automated replies inside marketplace chat: those APIs are approval-gated, and in Shopee’s case automated replies run against their own guidelines.

How many products can a shop carry?

The three shops above carry five or six each because that is what those brands sell. The platform is not limited to that — tell us your catalogue size and we will tell you what the build looks like.

Send us your product list. We’ll show you the shop.

The fastest way to judge any of this is not a deck. Give us a spreadsheet of what you sell and the photographs you already have, and we will walk you through a working storefront built from them — buyer journey, WhatsApp channel and merchant app, end to end.
